# Join or set up your practice (/docs/en/get-started/join-your-practice)

If your practice already uses Salisan, ask an owner or administrator to invite you at your own email address. Creating a second practice does not give you access to your colleagues or their patients.

## Join with an invitation [#join]

1. Open the link in the invitation email. Invitations expire after 7 days.
2. Sign in, or create an account with the invited email address. Verify the address if Salisan asks.
3. Read the welcome screen. It names the practice and who invited you, and lists in plain words what your role can and cannot reach.
4. Enter the name colleagues and patients should call you. A photo is optional and can be added later.
5. Choose the button that starts with **Join** and names the practice. Choose **Decline** if the invitation is not meant for you.

You then see **Finish your profile**, where you can set a preferred call name, and a two-factor step. You can skip two-factor unless your practice requires an authenticator app. Set it up now if you can: see [Account and security](/docs/en/get-started/account-and-security#two-factor).

Your role decides what you can do after joining. Read [Roles and access](/docs/en/get-started/roles-and-access) if a patient or button you expect is missing.

## If the invitation does not work [#invitation-problems]

The page **Invitation unavailable** means the invitation expired, was already used, or belongs to another account. Choose **Use another account** if you are signed in with the wrong address. Otherwise ask the practice to send a new invitation.

If you cannot sign in at all, see [I can't sign in](/docs/en/troubleshooting/cant-sign-in).

## Sign in with single sign-on [#sso]

If your practice has set up single sign-on, choose **Clinic SSO** on the sign-in page, enter your work email and continue to your clinic's own sign-in. You still need an invitation or an existing membership. A successful single sign-on alone does not add you to a practice.

## Set up a new practice [#new-practice]

Only create a practice if you are responsible for setting it up.

1. Create your account and verify your email address. Your account is stored in one data region, shown as **Europe (Frankfurt)**, and cannot move later.
2. On **Name your practice**, enter the name and accept the **Terms of service** and **Data processing agreement** on behalf of the practice.
3. Follow the setup that opens. It asks for the main practice address and phone, the disciplines you practise, and the email addresses of colleagues to invite.

<Callout type="warn">
 The country of the main address is fixed once the practice exists. It decides which coding catalogs and patient fields you get. Moving to another country needs a data migration through support. Read [Countries and languages](/docs/en/get-started/countries-and-languages#country) before you enter the address.
</Callout>

Setup also asks whether every member must use an authenticator app. When it finishes, choose **Enter your practice**. Home then shows a chip such as **Setup 0 of 4** beside the greeting. Choose it to open the **Opening week** checklist.
