# Learn (/docs/en/learn)



Learn teaches Salisan by doing. Each lesson explains one task with an example, then gives you an exercise to repeat in your own practice. A lesson takes 15 to 20 minutes: about 4 minutes of reading and the rest for the exercise. For step-by-step reference, use the [Guides](/docs/en/guides).

Work through a course in order. Each lesson builds on the one before.

## Before you begin [#test-patient]

Every exercise uses a test patient that you create in your own practice. Call the patient **Sam Testpatient** and choose a birth date that makes Sam an adult. Reuse Sam in later lessons. Put your own email address on Sam when an exercise sends email.

  Salisan cannot delete or archive a patient, and recorded entries are withdrawn, never deleted. Only an owner or admin can start a formal erasure. Keep "Testpatient" in the name and turn on **Exclude from analytics** under **More details** in the patient's details, so Sam does not count in Insights.
