Ask the Agent and review its work
Ask the Agent for help beside a record or note, then keep, dismiss or decline what it proposes.
After this lesson you can ask the Agent for help, review what it proposes and decline an action. It takes about 15 minutes. The Agent needs the Use AI features permission, which every default role has.
Why it matters
The Agent can read the records you may open, draft text and propose changes. It can also make mistakes. The habit that keeps you safe is simple: nothing the Agent proposes counts until you keep or confirm it, and decisions about diagnosis, treatment and dose stay with you.
How it works
Anna de Vries is due in ten minutes. Her doctor asks the Agent for help with the paperwork.
Where to ask
There are two doors:
- The Agent button in the top bar of a record, note, letter, form or task opens the Agent beside it. The Agent already knows what is open, and it names its context, for example the patient and "this note and the record". Check the patient's name before you send.
- Agent in the sidebar opens the full page. Start from a starter such as Brief me on today, or name the patient yourself.
If a patient is excluded from AI assistance, the Agent cannot use that record. A banner on the record says so.
Proposals you keep or dismiss
The Agent never changes a record on its own.
- On the Record page, each proposed change is a row you can Keep or Dismiss. Keep writes that one row to the record. Dismiss discards it.
- In a note, proposed text appears in the note with Keep and Dismiss. When changes are out of view, a strip at the top counts them and offers Keep all and Dismiss all. A kept clinical finding is still a draft until you add it to the record, as in the earlier lessons.
- Check dates, values and units against the source. If a run stops halfway, look at the note before you ask again. Parts of it may already be there.
Actions that need your go-ahead
For actions that reach people or change the calendar, the Agent shows a card marked Needs your go-ahead. Read the recipient or the time, then confirm or choose Decline. The Agent always asks before it sends an email or a form, books, moves or cancels an appointment, or moves a file to another shelf. For tasks and file renames, you choose whether it asks in Agent settings → Approvals.
After you confirm an email, it waits 30 seconds, and you can still use Undo.
Credits
Every reply uses AI credits from a pool the whole practice shares each month. A gauge by the message box shows how many are left. When yours or the practice's credits run out, the Agent stops answering until they renew.
Try it
Use Sam Testpatient. Nothing in this exercise leaves the practice.
- Open Sam's Record page and choose Agent. Check that the context names Sam's record.
- Ask: "Add a heart rate of 70 per minute measured today." If the Agent asks a question first, answer it.
- A proposed row appears under Vitals, with Keep and Dismiss beside it. It is not a recorded reading yet. Choose Dismiss.
- Open a visit note for Sam (Start visit, or Continue visit) and choose Agent. Ask: "Write one sentence saying this is a training visit." Proposed text appears in the note. Choose Dismiss.
- Ask: "Send Sam Testpatient a short email about next week's appointment." If the Agent wants to send, a card marked Needs your go-ahead appears. Choose Decline.
- Find the credit gauge by the message box. Note how many credits are left.
- Sign or leave the training visit. It contains nothing clinical.
Check yourself
- The Agent proposes a reading under Vitals. Is it in the record?
Answer
No. It joins the record only when you choose Keep.
- Which actions does the Agent always ask about first?
Answer
Sending an email or a form, booking, moving or cancelling an appointment, and moving a file to another shelf. For tasks and file renames the choice is yours, under Agent settings → Approvals.
- The Agent stops answering and mentions credits. What has happened and who can help?
Answer
Your monthly limit or the practice's credits are used up. They renew on the date shown. An owner or admin can change a person's limit, and the owner can allow extra credits.
