I can't sign my note
Find out why Sign is missing or refused, and finish signing without recording a finding twice.
ForDoctorsNurses
Sign is missing or disabled on a visit note, or signing stops with a message and the note stays unsigned.
Check these first
- Check that it is a visit. Only visit notes have Sign. A standalone patient document saves without a signature. Open the visit from the patient's Visits page or from To sign, and do not start a second note to get the button. A signed visit shows Signed with the signer and time and has no Sign button.
- Check that the note is editable. Sign is disabled when the note is withdrawn, you lack write access to the patient's clinical records, or the workspace is paused. See My note is not saving.
- Finish or remove unfinished findings. The message Finish or remove unfinished records before signing means a finding block is still missing what it needs, for example a diagnosis or a medication with no name. Complete it, or choose Remove. The confirm button stays disabled until then.
- Retry a draft that failed. The message "N of M drafts could not be recorded. Nothing was signed" means at least one finding was refused. The failed block shows its own error and Try again. The findings that succeeded are already in the record, and signing again does not record them twice. Fix the failed block, then choose Sign again.
- Wait for the note to save. The message that your latest changes are not saved means the text on screen is not stored yet, so nothing was signed. Wait for Saved, check your connection, and try again. See My note is not saving.
- Reload if someone else signed it. If a colleague or another tab already signed the visit, Sign is no longer possible. Reload and look for the signature line.
Do not retype findings that are already recorded. Check the patient's record first. See A finding I wrote is not in the record.
If it still doesn't work
Leave the note open. Choose Help & support from the visit, so that support sees the page. See Contact support.
Send the time, the exact message, which kind of finding block failed (for example a diagnosis or a medication) and whether it happens on every visit. Do not send patient names or the content of the note.
