Salisan

Get started as a nurse or assistant

An ordered first week for nurses and clinical assistants: patient access, readings, notes, tasks and requests.

ForNurses

As a nurse or clinical assistant you record readings, document contacts, follow up on tasks and ask patients for information. Salisan has no separate nurse role. Your administrator gives you the Member role, the same clinical role doctors have, or a custom role on the Enterprise plan. What you can open depends on that role and on which patients you are assigned to.

Your first week

  1. Accept your invitation and finish your profile, then set up two-factor protection. See Join your practice and Account and security. About 10 minutes.
  2. Learn the sidebar and Home. See Find your way around. About 10 minutes.
  3. Ask a front desk colleague or administrator to add you to the care team of the patients you look after. Then open Patients to check that they appear. See Roles and access. About 5 minutes.
  4. Record a reading with New → Reading in the patient bar, or press / in a visit note and choose Vitals. See Clinical records. About 10 minutes.
  5. Document a contact with Start visit in the patient bar, write the note and sign it. Read Saved, recorded and signed first, then Visits and notes. About 15 minutes.
  6. Open Tasks and try My tasks, My teams and Unassigned. Claim a task and finish it. See Tasks. About 10 minutes.
  7. Send a patient a form or ask for a reading with Send to patient in Requests, then follow up on the answer. See Patient forms and requests. About 10 minutes.
  8. At the end of the day, open To sign for visits you started and have not signed. See To sign. About 5 minutes.

What you can and can't do

With the Member role you can:

  • Open and edit the patients on whose care team you are, and create patients. A patient you create is added to your care team.
  • Read and write those patients' clinical records, including readings, and sign the visits you document.
  • Read and manage calendars of colleagues in your teams.
  • Send email, forms and requests to your patients.
  • Create tasks, claim unassigned tasks and use templates.
  • Use the Agent.

You can't:

  • Open patients who are not on your care team, even when a colleague in your team treats them.
  • Add anyone to a patient's care team. Front desk, administrators and owners can.
  • Invite people, change roles, or change practice settings.

A custom role can give you wider patient access, for example all patients in your team. Ask your administrator. See Roles and access.

Keep learning

Nurses and assistants use the Clinician essentials course in Learn. Start with its first lesson on the patient chart, or see the Learn overview.
